Expeditions

Four expeditions, supported by ENEA (Agenzia nazionale per le nuove tecnologie, l'energia e lo sviluppo economico sostenibile) and CNR (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche), will be carried out (one per Austral summer):

- The first expedition (2023) will mainly focus on the installation of the monitoring network on Melbourne, on geochemical, volcanological and topographical surveys in the ice caves. These activities will require the following people: 1 technician expert in seismic sensors, 1 technician expert in data transmission, 1 seismologist, 1 geophysicist expert in geodesy.

- The second expedition will mainly focus on the installation of the monitoring network on Rittmann, on geochemical, volcanological and topographical surveys in the ice caves and on the maintenance of the instruments installed in the previous expedition. These activities will require the following people: 1 technician expert in seismic and geodetic sensors, 1 technician expert in data transmission, 1 geophysicist, 1 geochemist/volcanologist.

- The third expedition will mainly focus on the improvement of the networks installed on Melbourne and Rittmann, on the maintenance of the instruments installed during the previous expeditions, on geochemical, volcanological and topographical surveys of ice caves on Mt. Melbourne and Rittmann. These activities will require the following people: 1 technician expert in seismic and geodetic sensors, 1 geophysicist, 1 geochemist, 1 volcanologist.

- The fourth expedition will mainly focus on the maintenance of the instruments installed during the previous expeditions, on geochemical, volcanological and topographical surveys of ice caves on Mt. Melbourne and Rittmann. These activities will require the following people: 1 technician expert in seismic and geodetic sensors, 1 geophysicist, 1 geochemist, 1 volcanologist.

During each expedition the personnel lived in the Mario Zucchelli base.
